A rabbit sits on my bed

It looks at me with pale eyes and a soft smile

The stitches that hold it together are frayed

Its fur as white as the snow

That cakes the ground outside

Its once pink nose is now a muddy brown

The long ears touching the blanket it sits on

I hold it in my arms like I did when I was five

Lying my head on its round belly

Thinking of all the winter days we had just like this
