What would the sky be like without stars?

A blank canvas of darkess pulled over like a fitted sheet,

Singing us to sleep without any glimmer,

Not a twinkle to put us to bed.

There would be no astrology

Or watching for lost comets

That come only when most are sleeping.

There would be no hope of a distant planet

To replace the one we already have,

Just endless shadow in a labyrinth

Where we search for meaning in dreams.
