Continuation of writing from yesterday...


Virality is a currency among today's young people. I can't even begin to count how often friends have gushed me about their Tik Tok garnering millions of views. Social media attention is now incredibly accessible, just with the push of a button, and record labels are starting to acknowledge this. TikTok is essentially free, large-scale marketing that goes directly to the fingertips of its target audience, teens. I understand why a label would push an artist to have a presence on the app. Not only does it open up the possibility of having a song go ultra-viral, but it makes people sympathize with the musician more, creating extra appeal. Artists will be forced to adapt to this marketing technique because, in order to stay relevant, you have to know what's relevant.
