Day 449

About a piece of art I saw at the Frist museum...

From the Raqib Shaw Exhibit, the work that caught my attention was La Tempesta. The details that drew me to the work was the juxtaposition of light and darkness with the beautiful memory bubble at the center of the canvas. The use of gloss at the top of the work almost looks as if it has been shattered a little bit, almost as if it is reflecting how the once beautiful place turned into darkness. I thought it was unlike the other pieces because it depicts both a utopia and chaos, with most of the other works only showing one or the other. I loved the way that his art style looked fantastical, like something out of a story book.
