I had to avoid falling in the pool. My leg was dangling over the edge of the blue water as I high kicked and step-brush-hopped just beside it. The take had to be perfect, my mom had to be at a coffee with her friend she hadn’t seen since moving to Nashville. I stumbled backwards away from the water and started the accordion soundtrack again. My mom held up her phone and pressed record. “One more shot,” I thought to myself.
