Day 37

The final part of this revised story...

Seemingly out of nowhere, a sharp knock on our wooden front door shook the whole house. We jumped off the couch simultaneously and ran to the door. I reached for the cold metal handle and pulled it open to see my parents and a small baby carrier on our front porch. Excitement filled my veins as I looked down at the carrier to see my sister for the very first time. Her blue eyes sparkled in the morning light. I could not believe how small her fingers and toes were. I carefully took her out of the carrier and cradled her tightly against my chest. I had never felt such peace as holding her, that tiny tears formed in my eyes. Everyone stared in awe at our first interaction, and now that she is older, I still remember the days of waiting for our adventure to begin.
