Day 271

Growing up in the digital age has greatly influenced my values and aspirations because I have more of an inclination to be seen than I would have without current technology. I stew over my Instagram posts for days at times, not sure exactly what to post or to caption anything. Any major life event I have is marked by my desire to digitize it and capture it, somehow making it all less meaningful in the process. However, social media is not as opt-in friendly as some suggest. Not having any presence on social media can often paint someone as irrelevant and out of the loop socially, causing others to not want to invest as much time in a friendship because of its lack of marketability. I hope to one day be set free of the expectations of being seen, but at this point in my life, it nearly consumes me.
