Day 269

Prompt: Time travel works, but only once in a person’s life. Write from the perspective of someone who chooses to go back in time, knowing they can never return. Where do they go and why?

It had been twenty years since he had last seen his wife. All of those years were spent in an empty house, surrounding the empty chairs that once belonged to his wife and the rest of his family. His parents had passed on a few months prior, the only people keeping him in this time line. As soon as he heard about the development of time travel, he knew he had to try it out. He had finally saved enough money for the hefty travel fee and was no longer bogged down by his elderly parents. After all of these years, it was finally time for him to go and see her again. He decided on the particularly beautiful spring of 1982, the time when he first met his true love. He entered the time travel capsule and didn't look back, standing there with a smile on his face, ready for the rest of his life.
