Day 256

Without saying a word, she took a seat next to my brother and cradled him in her lap. With a gentle touch, she rocked him, humming soft songs that filled the room with la light of joy. Despite the air conditioning being turned up, the summer heat made the house feel stuffy, even in the early morning. Sweat dripped down my forehead and soaked into my silk pajamas, making my eyes sting. As the sun began to rise, a soft golden glow illuminated everything, and the birds stirred from their slumber, chirping happily for the rest of the day.
