I enjoy using the app, and although I do use it, I don't believe it poses a greater threat to public safety than any other app. In today's age of smartphones, nearly every website or app collects personal information or "cookies," often without the user's permission. Therefore, the recent outcry against TikTok seems unjustified as data collection is not a new practice. Lawmakers have long recognized that smartphones generate data about the American public, and if not collected directly by the Chinese government, it may still be purchased by them.
