Day 246

Nashville has experienced exponential change over the past few years. Whether it’s the thousands of new residents, opening of businesses or increased construction, the city is evolving with every passing day. However, there is currently one change on the horizon that is more divisive in the community than others: the redevelopment of the beloved Belle Meade Plaza. Built in the 1960s, the Belle Meade Plaza has been a staple of the neighborhood for decades. The current center is mostly used as retail space, housing local favorites like Ninki and Agave’s. Amongst my school community this has proven to be a divisive issue. Some argue that the center is in need of desperate renovation, while others argue that the new plans don't fit the needs of the area. Whether or not the development takes place will likely greatly affect the neighborhood, yet only time can tell.
