Day 122

I'm back! I had a fantastic Christmas surrounded by loved ones.

I just finished reading Educated by Tara Westover and I'm astounded. Her journey to where she is now is so unique and unbelievable that I couldn't take my eyes off the pages. She spent her entire childhood living next to a junkyard with her many siblings and survivalist parents. Tara had no formal education, so when she decided she wanted to attend college she had to teach herself. When she went off on her own, she was opened up to a world of possibilities, all while reconciling her newfound beliefs with her family life. The book is so well written and engaging while conveying her incredible perseverance in her education. It made me appreciate how lucky I am to be in a great school and have the ability to learn whatever my heart desires with the resources I have.
